Guy Frómeta, a drummer of high acclaim from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, is well known for his work with the 440 Group of Juan Luis Guerra, Patricia Pereyra, Transporte Urbano, and Chichi Peralta.
Frómeta recently shared his enthusiasm for music with the children at FEDUJAZZ through an intensive workshop, where he inspired the group of young students to strive to reach their potential and expand their horizons through music. He was joined by Ramon Solano, a musician and teacher from Puerto Plata, who is the beloved drum teacher at FEDUJAZZ, a man of great talent and spirit.
Frómeta began playing drums at the age of five years old. His interest in music is a family tradition, being the nephew of Billo Frómeta, the Dominican orchestra director who settled in Venezuela. Guy Frómeta has developed a unique style infused by the culture of New York where he once lived, and influenced by an eclectic mixture of elements from rock and Latin jazz.
