JERRY MEDINA Y SU BANDA

 

Jerry Medina’s training and education is as diverse as his music. He grew up in New York listening to his mother Lydia Ortega playing the trumpet, while listening to gospel singers in the churches.

• Began his musical career with Nestor Torres

• In 1980, Jerry joined the orchestra of Ismael Miranda

• Later on, he became part of Batacumbele

Shortly before his debut as soloist with his album “Feelin’ Allright” with RMM label, Jerry Medina participated in the tour of Fania All Stars and was part of the Jazz Festival of the North Sea, in Holland. He visitad Spain, Italy, and France. He also visited Colombia and many African countries, with Miles Davis, Ray Charles, Sara Vaughn, Ella Fitzgerald, Horace Silver, Mel Lewis and Airto Moreira.

Creating a connection between Caribbean folklore and Latin Jazz, this talented musician produced the single “Feeling Alright”, which has received positive comments from specialized critics.
