The Dominican Republic Jazz Festival Celebrates 18 Years November 6-9, 2014

The Dominican Republic Jazz Festival will take place Nov 6 – 9, 2014 in the North Coast touristic towns of Puerto Plata, Sosua and Cabarete. Presented by the Dominican Ministry of Tourism, with sponsors such as Jetblue, Ron Macorix, Sea Horse Ranch Luxury Resort, Casa Linda, UltraVioleta, and Millennium Resort, The Dominican Republic Jazz Festival is a renowned, annual cultural event that brings Jazz to a diverse crowd of music lovers, comprised of local residents and tourists alike. The 2013 event enjoyed record-breaking attendance with a combined audience of over 10,000 people.

In addition to supporting the country’s historical musical roots, the festival works to bring music education to the region’s youth. Affiliated with FEDUJAZZ and local non-profits, the world-renowned musicians performing at the festival will lead student workshops to educate aspiring Jazz artists.The Dominican Republic Jazz Festival is known for its legendary performers and seaside locale with its mix of Tropical climate, Caribbean culture and a Latin take on the international jazz scene.

Since the beginning, the Festival has presented internationally renowned jazz musicians including winners of the prestigious Grammy and Latin Grammy Awards, such as Chuck Mangione, David Sánchez, Ray Baretto, Néstor Torres, Chucho Valdés and Arturo Sandoval. Additional noteworthy musicians have included Stanley Jordan, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Danilo Pérez, El Canario, Ismael Miranda, Cuco Valoy and Bernie Williams among many other talents.

The Festival is free, but VIP Tickets are available, benefiting the music foundation FEDUJAZZ. This year, the sounds of internationally acclaimed musicians include the following….
